So...one of the few traditions our family hasn't had is an Advent Calendar, that is until NOW...thank you Ali Edwards & Martha Stewart! Don't ask me "why" we haven't been an Advent Calendar family...for crying out loud we have traditions about traditions when it comes to Christmas....for instance we go to a movie with Jeff's parents every Christmas Eve day...then we go to their house for the exact same meal every single year....fondue & creme carmel for dessert....then we go to my parents for pedohay (sp? otherwise known as perogies)...and those are just to name a few...and I do mean a few....but still that had me wondering...what is the Advent Calendar all about anyway? Well, it is a custom handed down from German Lutherans regarding Advent of course. Which brings me to why I'm posting anyway....I too made the Martha Stewart advent calendar like Ali, only with a twist....here are my photo's...it was a process. but totally worth it... I LOVE IT!
I'm going to guess that neither Martha or Ali make the mess I do......whatever....professionals.......(wink!)
and a little closer.....
ugh....sorry about the darn built in flash...forgot to turn it off!
Anyway....I love our new Advent Calendar and can hardly wait for December 1st....however....I must get through a few other things first....like Thanksgiving....just a minor little thing....only 17 people coming to our teeny-tiny little house...and my bird isn't thawing very fast...but that's why I normally buy fresh....however the "free" with a $100 purchase was quite enticing! Any-hoo....my husband has been home on vacation so far this week and while I detest the fact that I have to go to school while he is at home....he did surprise me by cleaning out and making room for my scrap supplies in the 'office" which is a room we built in our garage that houses is enormous desk, two computers, the washer & dryer and all our junk....that being said...my old scrap desk is now set up out there and it is WONDERFUL. I love it and he has awesome speakers on his computer for playing my new favorite music on-line. SO....happy turkey day....looking forward to the day after as we head to the mountains in search of the perfect tree....
I LOVE your advent calendar. I'm working on one right now :).
What did you use for the Dec. 25?
